Academic Standards for Membership into
Greek Organizations at
Michigan Tech
Section 1: Policy
- Membership in Greek organizations at Michigan Tech is possible beginning in the second semester of college attendance for first-time college students.
- Membership in a Greek organization at Michigan Tech is a privilege granted only to active students (statue verified by the Office of Records and Registration) who have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or greater.
- Students who transfer to Michigan Tech after full-time enrollment (completed at least 12 credits) at another college or university (not including advanced placement credit or college credit completed while enrolled in high school) are eligible to pledge a Greek organization during their first semester of enrollment at Michigan Tech.
Section 2: Procedures
- Students interested in joining a Greek organization should complete the "Greek Academic Eligibility Release" through the BanWeb system.
- Students who accept an invitation to join a Greek organization must be registered with the Student Activities Office no later than 1 week after new member education begins.
- A new member class GPA can be calculated for individual Greek organizations. Calculations will not include individuals who did not complete new member education programs.
