All students are urged to register to vote in local, state and national elections. Go to http://www.fec.gov/ for information about the electoral process generally. Go to http://www.sos.state.mi.us/pamphlet/voting.html for information about the electoral process in Michigan.
Did you know that only about one-third of eligible voters between the ages of 18-24 actually voted in federal elections between 1972 and 1996? This is well below the average for the nation -- 54%.
Please register to vote. Registration forms are available in the Office of Student Affairs, or the Office of Records and Registration. You can also register even though you may not be living at home, by going to the "About Elections and Voting" page, and downloading the "National Mail Voter Registration Form.". The National Mail Voter Registration Form is the one document that allows you to register to vote from anywhere in the United States.
The National Form can be used to:
Register out-of-town tourist and convention groups
Register people from surrounding States who work, shop, or attend events in a central city
Conduct voter registration drives, especially at colleges and universities
Register individuals at state agencies or other public offices
Note that Adobe Acrobat Reader
(it's free) must be loaded to view the Voter Registration Application.
